The Unpopular Opinions Book Tag 2.0

I’ve been giving a lot of two stars to books as of lately so I’m just gonna cleanse my hate. I wasn’t tag so oops.

A POPULAR BOOK OR BOOK SERIES THAT YOU DIDN’T LIKE

Alright so I read books 1-2 and I actually enjoyed myself reading these. Chaol was my everImage result for throne of glass seriesything and I was looking forward to Heir of Fire. Hell, I bought the book at Barnes and Noble and that shit was expensive. But when I read like the first quarter I was B.O.R.E.D. Then I tried reading the Assassin’s Blade and I was like “why does this exist?” I took a break and then like 3 years later I still never continued, I got rid of the books, and I don’t miss it because I heard the author shits on all the OG characters so nope I’m good. I didn’t really like anybody but Chaol anyway :/ Also, the author’s rep isn’t that good anymore too so yup bye.

25701463I had very high hopes for this one but was extremely disappointed. The main character loved girl hate way too much and was petty for no reason.

A POPULAR BOOK OR BOOK SERIES THAT EVERYONE ELSE SEEMS TO HATE BUT YOU LOVE.

26025580This has under a 3.5 star rating on Goodreads and I’m not sure why. Do I give Gillian Flynn too much credit for her work? Perhaps. But I loved this little short story. I read it super fast and I was wrong about the plot twist. I love how GF makes fun of the paranormal genre in this book. I would recommend but I feel like I’m the minority in this one yikes

A Love Triangle where the main character ended up with the person you did NOT want them to end up with (warn people for spoilers) OR an OTP that you don’t like.

13597723I can shit on this series for days. The love triangle in this is soooooooooo dumb. I hated the main character, I hated both of the guys, both sides were full on insta love. I usually don’t mind love triangles and insta love but god damn this was all trash.

POPULAR AUTHOR THAT YOU CAN’T SEEM TO GET INTO.

Sarah J Maas and John Green (old answer but still true)

A Genre You Hardly Reach For

This always changes. I feel like I haven’t been reading a lot of fantasy or at least any good fantasy. I also don’t read a lot of historical fiction. I wanna change that though so any recs for fantasy and historical fiction would be nice!

A POPULAR BOOK TROPE THAT YOU’RE TIRED OF SEEING

I have so many okay okay. The Ineffective/Horrible Therapist like bye. We should not be promoting that thank you very much. Also, Love Cures Mental Illness. Gee why am I majoring in Psych if mental illness already has a fucking cure. Also, I still hate the whole characters withholding information crap to protect other characters. SO unnecessary. I basically hate all the black tropes {my post here}.

A POPULAR SERIES THAT YOU HAVE NO INTEREST IN READING.

Image result for a court of thorns and roses seriesMy friends in the real world keeps telling me to read this but I’m like NOO THIS DOESN’T INTEREST ME LEAVE ME ALONE YOU CAN READ AND LOVE THIS AND I’M GLAD YOU DO BUT STOP FORCING THIS SHIT ON ME THANK YOU

TAG YOU’RE IT…YEAH YOU!

SERIES I DON’T PLAN ON FINISHING OR AM NOT READING IN THE NEAR FUTURE

Excuse the long title :).

Well, since it’s the new year, I thought I would do a bookshelf cleanse. I noticed that there are some books on my bookshelf that I have no interested in anymore and I thought I would share with you guys the series that I no longer have a desire to finish (at least in the near future). LET’S BEGIN!

Throne of Glass Series by Sarah J. Maas

16034235

I actually liked the first two books in this series. However, I put off reading Heir of Fire so long, that I no longer cared about the world or the characters. Although I’ve been isolated from the book community for a while, I heard there’s some “controversy” around these books about diversity and also how her characters have become inconsistent. Although I can’t speak on those issues due to me not reading past Crown of Midnight, I would be lying to say that those problems helped me not wanting to continue the series.

The Dresden Files by Jim Butcher

47212

I really wanted to get in this series. I was committed to doing so. I bought half the series from old book stores and read the first book. It was okay, but nothing worthwhile. One day I would like to tackle this series but I don’t think it will be anytime soon.

The Vincent Boy Duology by Abbi Glines (maybe trilogy) b

12900174

I read the first book and nope bye denied.

The Dollanganger Series by V.C. Andrews

43448

I have a love/hate relationship with this series. I hated the incest, I hated a lot of the characters and I hated the crap the siblings in the book had to go through. The writing was weird since the world “Golly” was thrown around a lot and you can easily tell how old school this was. However, I still seemed to like this gross book series. However, the reason why I have no desire to finish it is because I already watched the entire Lifetime series. Also, I was almost done with the second book and I put it down for about 2 years and I have no desire to pick it back up whoops.

If you made it to the end, thank you so much!

What books/series are you abandoning?

Top 5 Wednesday: Books You Were Spoiled For

I’m finally jumping the bandwagon of participating in Top 10 Wednesday. If you want to be part of the T5W family, information can be found here. Also, T5W was created by Lainey.

This week is Top 5 books you were spoiled for.

I’m generally good at avoiding spoilers but of course there is going to be some that were out my control.

1. Clockwork Princess by Cassandra Clare

I avoided spoilers online before going into this book. However, when I was gazing inside of the book jacket that was a family tree. That completely spoiled the entire series for me. Luckily, I avoided the same fate in the last book of the Mortal Instruments series because it also contained a spoiler. Note: When reading a Cassandra Clare installment AVOID LOOKING INSIDE THE DUSK JACKET YOU WILL BE SPOILED.

2.  The Fault in Our Stars by John Green

The Fault in Our Stars

I wasn’t very upset by this spoiler. I read it way too late and I don’t think the spoiler hindered my enjoyment. What hindered my enjoyment was the characters and plot.

3. Heir of Fire by Sarah J Maas

Heir of Fire (Throne of Glass, #3)

This wasn’t even my fault. I read a review on Goodreads and they said there wasn’t any spoilers. Well, now were here. And to be honest, I don’t even feel like reading the rest of the series. Maybe if I wasn’t spoiled but for now I’ve been putting the book  to the side.

4. Prodigy by Marie Lu

Prodigy (Legend, #2)

Another ‘I’m not trying to spoil you but does it anyway’ books.

5. Champion by Marie Lu

Champion (Legend, #3)
